How to Write BAYBAYIN Tote Bag
"Baybayin" is an ancient script used by the Tagalog people in the Philippines. It is an alphasyllabic script, meaning that each character represents a consonant-vowel syllable. The term "Baybayin" comes from the Tagalog word "baybay," which means "to spell" or "to write." The script was widely used before the arrival of the Spanish in the Philippines in the 16th century.
However, with the Spanish colonization and the introduction of the Latin alphabet, Baybayin fell out of common use and was eventually replaced by the new script. Baybayin consists of 14 basic characters representing various syllables, and additional symbols called "kudlit" are used to modify the pronunciation of the consonant-vowel combinations. The script is written from left to right, and the characters are often inscribed on bamboo or palm leaves. In recent years, there has been a renewed interest in Baybayin, and efforts have been made to preserve and revive its use as part of the Filipino cultural heritage.
